Move Data to Your New Phone – Android to Android

1. Google Account

When switching from Android to Android, you can use your Google account to transfer most data. As long as you turn on the Google backup feature on your old Android device, you can seamlessly sync the backup data via a network.

Generally, you can move your contacts, call logs, photos, music, videos, notes, etc. But please notice that the synchronization will cost much cellular data if you don’t connect your phone to Wi-Fi.

Here’s moving data from an old Android phone to a new one (take Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S21 as examples):

You can surely use your Google account to sync data from Android to your new iPhone, but it can sync contacts, emails, calendars, and notes only. If you want to transfer more files to your iPhone, you can utilize Move to iOS. This app is made by Apple.

However, you cannot use Move to iOS after finishing the setup on your new iPhone. Otherwise, you need to erase all content and settings first.

Here’s how:

Step 1: Place your iPhones together, turn on them, and enable Bluetooth.

Step 2: Set your new iPhone, and wait for an animation to appear. Then use your old device to center the animation in the viewfinder, and enter your passcode.

Whether your new smartphone is Android or iPhone, you can get a useful method to move data. But as you can see, there is no perfect app for data migration.

For instance, most wireless transfer ways need a stable connection between your devices and a network. Move to iOS, iCloud, and Quick Start only work during the setup.

Most importantly, they cannot move all data and settings to your new phone, because there is always something different between your old phone and the new one. The new cell phone is difficultly compatible with all the settings from your old phone.

Anyway, you still can transfer your basic and media data to your new device. And there is a final suggestion for you: Select the most practical app in your mind to transmit your most important data.
